01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, yellow cornmeal, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until thoroughly blended.
03 - In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vegetable oil or melted butter, and eggs until mixture is smooth.
04 - Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients. Using a spatula, gently stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
05 - Transfer batter into prepared pan and level the surface.
06 - Bake for 18–22 minutes, until top is golden and a toothpick inserted at center emerges clean.
07 - Allow to cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving while warm.
