01 - Rinse cranberries and mixed berries under cold water and drain thoroughly.
02 - In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves and mixture begins to simmer.
03 - Add cranberries to the simmering syrup and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until they start to burst.
04 - Add mixed berries and orange zest to the saucepan. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring gently to coat the berries without mashing them.
05 - Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
06 - Stir in finely chopped fresh mint just before serving for a fresh note, if desired.
07 - Use the garnish atop cakes, cheesecakes, parfaits, cocktails, or roasted meats.
